Journal your Axi MT5 trades automatically
If you trade with Axi on MetaTrader 5 for Windows, AI Trading Journal can save every closed trade in your own journal on your PC (with an optional copy in your own Notion workspace) about every 5 minutes. It reads your Axi terminal on your PC. It does not connect to Axi, so you never give anyone your Axi login.
What Axi says about MT5
Facts below are from Axi's own pages (https://www.axi.com/int/trading-platforms/metatrader-5), checked on 11 October 2026. Offers change, so check the broker's site for the latest. We are not affiliated with Axi, and nothing here is a recommendation of it.
- Its MT5 page describes MT5 as a multi-asset platform for forex, stocks, commodities and futures, launched in 2010 by MetaQuotes, and lists forex, shares, IPOs, commodities, indices and crypto CFDs.
- It says MT5 has six order types against four on MT4, and 21 timeframes against nine.
- It lists three steps to open an MT5 account: apply for a live account, receive a welcome email with your MT5 login details, then install MT5 from the link and log in.
- It lists a free 30-day demo and two live accounts, standard and pro. It also describes an optional Axi integration that lets an AI assistant view positions and open, change or close trades; AI Trading Journal does none of that and is read-only.
What that means for your journal
Axi offers a standard and a pro live account, and their costs differ. Because the app records each closed trade with its commission, you can compare the two account types net of costs once you have a month of trades on each.
Journaling tips for Axi accounts
- Write the account type (standard or pro) in the Notes field of the account's first entry.
- Run the setup once per account if you keep both; each gets its own Notion database.
- Review net results by instrument after commission before deciding which account type suits your style.
How to set it up
- Install the MT5 terminal on your Windows PC and log in to your Axi account.
- Install AI Trading Journal, click Add Account and pick your logged-in account. It finds your terminal and account.
- Click Create my journal. The app imports your whole history and keeps it up to date about every 5 minutes.
- Optional: click Connect Notion to keep a copy of the journal in your own Notion workspace.
What each journal entry contains
For every closed position: symbol, direction, volume, open and close time, entry and exit price, stop loss, take profit and profit or loss, plus your own setup, emotion, rating, tags, notes and screenshots, which a sync never overwrites. A daily row shows the day's result, win rate and drawdown.
A weekly review for your Axi trades
- Which symbols made or lost money this week?
- Which session were most of the losses taken in?
- Did lot size stay inside your plan?
- How many trades would you not take again?
The weekly trading review checklist turns these into a 20-minute routine, and win rate, profit factor and expectancy explained shows how to read the numbers.
Privacy and cost compared with a cloud journal
| Question | Cloud journal | AI Trading Journal |
|---|---|---|
| Where do your trades live? | On the vendor's servers | On your own PC; they do not pass through our servers |
| Does it need your broker login? | Many connect with account login and investor password, or an Expert Advisor that sends data out | No. It reads your own logged-in MT5 terminal on your PC |
| What if you stop paying? | Access and history can end with the subscription | Your Notion journal stays yours |
| Can it place trades? | Read-only access is typical, but you are trusting the vendor | It is read-only by design; it never places, changes or closes a trade |
An honest note on privacy. Notion is itself a cloud service, so your trades do sit on Notion's servers, in your own workspace, under your own account and token. What AI Trading Journal removes is the extra middleman: there is no separate journal vendor holding your trades and no broker login sent to a website. No tool is risk-free, so protect your accounts, including Notion if you connect it, with a strong password and two-step verification.
Limits to know
- Windows and MetaTrader 5 desktop only.
- Trades sync every 5 minutes, not instantly.
- One computer at a time per license.
- No trade replay, backtesting or AI coach.

More from Axi's MT5 page (read 11 October 2026)
- It says MT5 uses a 64-bit, multi-threaded architecture, against a 32-bit, single-threaded one for MT4, and presents that as faster execution and backtesting.
- It quotes figures such as 1,500+ instruments, under 50 ms latency and 99 percent uptime. These are the firm's own marketing claims and we have not verified them.
- It says MT5 includes Depth of Market and an economic calendar, and lists forex, shares, IPOs, commodities, indices and crypto CFDs.
Standard against pro, with your own numbers
With two live account types, the useful comparison is net result after commission, by account, over the same stretch of time. Keep one Notion database per account and read them side by side.
| Account | Trades | Average lots | Net result | Net per lot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (hypothetical) | 36 | 0.30 | +$74 | +$6.9 |
| Pro (hypothetical) | 34 | 0.30 | +$88 | +$8.6 |
These numbers are invented for the layout. A gap of that size over a few weeks may be noise, so wait for a larger sample. See the expectancy calculator for turning a few trades into an average per trade.
Read-only by design
Axi's page describes an optional integration through which an AI assistant can open, change and close trades. AI Trading Journal works the other way round: it only reads closed-trade history from your terminal and never places, changes or closes a trade. Choose the tool that matches how much control you want to hand over.
