Journal your Tickmill MT5 trades automatically
If you trade with Tickmill on MetaTrader 5 for Windows, AI Trading Journal can save every closed trade in your own journal on your PC (with an optional copy in your own Notion workspace) about every 5 minutes. It reads your Tickmill terminal on your PC. It does not connect to Tickmill, so you never give anyone your Tickmill login.
What Tickmill says about MT5
Facts below are from Tickmill's own pages (https://www.tickmill.com/trading-platforms/mt5), checked on 8 October 2026. Offers change, so check the broker's site for the latest. We are not affiliated with Tickmill, and nothing here is a recommendation of it.
- Its MT5 page lists Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and a WebTrader.
- It says MT5 is available for all account types, including Classic, Raw and Islamic accounts.
- It lists six pending order types and 21 timeframes.
- It says traders can trade stock and ETF CFDs on MT5, and use copy trading and signals.
What that means for your journal
A mix of Classic and Raw accounts invites a cost comparison. Net result after commission and swap, by account type, is the fair measure, and a journal that records net per position gives it directly.
Journaling tips for Tickmill accounts
- Tag trades with the account type and compare net results after costs.
- Stock and ETF CFDs follow exchange hours; note the session.
- Tag signal or copy-traded positions separately from your own decisions.
How to set it up
- Install the MT5 terminal on your Windows PC and log in to your Tickmill account.
- Install AI Trading Journal, click Add Account and pick your logged-in account. It finds your terminal and account.
- Click Create my journal. The app imports your whole history and keeps it up to date about every 5 minutes.
- Optional: click Connect Notion to keep a copy of the journal in your own Notion workspace.
What each journal entry contains
For every closed position: symbol, direction, volume, open and close time, entry and exit price, stop loss, take profit and profit or loss, plus your own setup, emotion, rating, tags, notes and screenshots, which a sync never overwrites. A daily row shows the day's result, win rate and drawdown.
A weekly review for your Tickmill trades
- Which symbols made or lost money this week?
- Which session were most of the losses taken in?
- Did lot size stay inside your plan?
- How many trades would you not take again?
The weekly trading review checklist turns these into a 20-minute routine, and win rate, profit factor and expectancy explained shows how to read the numbers.
Privacy and cost compared with a cloud journal
| Question | Cloud journal | AI Trading Journal |
|---|---|---|
| Where do your trades live? | On the vendor's servers | On your own PC; they do not pass through our servers |
| Does it need your broker login? | Many connect with account login and investor password, or an Expert Advisor that sends data out | No. It reads your own logged-in MT5 terminal on your PC |
| What if you stop paying? | Access and history can end with the subscription | Your Notion journal stays yours |
| Can it place trades? | Read-only access is typical, but you are trusting the vendor | It is read-only by design; it never places, changes or closes a trade |
An honest note on privacy. Notion is itself a cloud service, so your trades do sit on Notion's servers, in your own workspace, under your own account and token. What AI Trading Journal removes is the extra middleman: there is no separate journal vendor holding your trades and no broker login sent to a website. No tool is risk-free, so protect your accounts, including Notion if you connect it, with a strong password and two-step verification.

More from Tickmill's MT5 page (read 8 October 2026)
- It lists downloads for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, plus a WebTrader.
- It describes 38 built-in technical indicators, 21 timeframes and six pending order types, including stop-limit orders.
- It mentions copy trading and signal integration inside the platform, and the ability to build Expert Advisors in MQL5.
Copy trading and signals: keep your own decisions separate
If you copy another trader or follow signals, the resulting trades appear in your account history alongside the ones you place yourself. A journal that reads the account will record all of them. To learn anything about your own trading, tag the source of each trade: Own decision, Copied or Signal. Then review each group separately. A common outcome is that traders discover how much of their result came from trades they did not choose, and how their own decisions compare with the strategies they follow. The numbers can be uncomfortable and are worth having.
| Source (hypothetical) | Trades | Net result | Plan followed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Own decision | 52 | +$210 | 84% |
| Copied strategy | 31 | -$95 | n/a |
| Signal | 12 | +$40 | n/a |
Classic, Raw and Islamic accounts
The page says MT5 is available for all account types, including Classic, Raw and Islamic accounts. If you hold more than one, label each Notion database with its account type, and compare net results after every cost rather than headline spreads. For an Islamic account, check how your broker treats overnight charges, because swap is a cost that can change a swing trader's result, and the History tab shows what you were actually charged or credited. We make no claim about how any account type is priced.
Stop-limit and other pending orders
Six pending order types give you more ways to plan an entry, and each is a hypothesis worth testing. In the notes, record the order type next to the setup. After a month, compare stop-limit entries with simple stop and limit entries. If the stop-limit orders miss many trades because the limit is never reached, the journal will show it as setups you planned but did not fill, which is a cost that profit figures do not capture.
Review questions for a Tickmill MT5 account
- What share of my trades was my own decision, and how did those do compared with copied or signal trades?
- Which account type is cheaper for the way I actually trade, after commission and swap?
- How many planned pending orders never filled, and what happened to the setups afterwards?
