Where TraderSync is the better choice
- Replay, backtesting and AI. We have none of these.
- Breadth. It lists 700+ brokers and several asset classes. We do MetaTrader 5.
- Any device. It works in the browser and has a mobile app.
Where AI Trading Journal is the better choice
- Price. $19.99 once, against a subscription that keeps billing.
- You keep the journal. Trades and notes sit in your own journal on your PC.
- No broker login handed over. The app reads history from your own MT5 terminal on your PC.
What you give up with AI Trading Journal
- Windows and MetaTrader 5 only.
- Syncs every 5 minutes, not the instant a trade closes.
- One computer at a time per license.
- No replay, backtesting or AI assistant.

Which of these features will you actually use?
The honest way to compare a feature-rich journal with a lean one is to list what you used in the last month. Tick each of these that you actually did, not what you might do someday:
- Replayed a past trade candle by candle to study it.
- Backtested a rule change before applying it.
- Asked an AI assistant a question about your trading.
- Reviewed your trades on a phone or in a browser away from your trading PC.
- Imported trades from a broker other than your main MT5 account.
If you ticked most of them, a cloud journal with those tools fits you and the subscription buys something you use. If you ticked none, your needs may be closer to a record of every trade plus a place for notes, and a lean automatic journal can do that for much less. Most traders land somewhere in between, which is why a trial of each on your own account is the fairest test.
Browser and phone versus a desktop app
A hosted journal is available wherever you have a browser, which is convenient if you review on a laptop away from your trading PC. AI Trading Journal runs on your Windows PC and keeps the journal there; if you connect Notion, a copy also lives in Notion, so you can read and annotate it on any device that runs Notion. What you cannot do away from the PC is open the desktop dashboard or start the sync, and the sync only works while the PC is on and MT5 is logged in.
Privacy trade-offs, stated plainly
- A cloud journal holds your imported trades on its own servers, under its own terms. That is convenient and also a second place your data lives.
- With AI Trading Journal your trades are saved in your own journal on your PC (with an optional copy in your own Notion workspace). Notion is a cloud service too, so the data is not offline, but it is in an account you control, and no separate journal vendor holds it.
- Whatever you choose, use a strong, unique password and two-step verification on every account involved.
