Forex session times in Pakistan (PKT)

Pakistan Standard Time is UTC+5, and Pakistan does not currently use daylight saving, so your own clock is steady while the forex sessions move around it. When London and New York move their clocks in spring and autumn, the sessions shift by an hour in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad time. Each table below applies the working-day convention for a session: 08:00 to 17:00 local time in Sydney, London and New York, and 09:00 to 18:00 in Tokyo. The session times converter will do any other date.

The week opens and closes in the middle of the night

With the usual New York pattern, the forex week opens on Monday 02:00 in northern summer and Monday 03:00 in northern winter, and it closes on Saturday 02:00 or Saturday 03:00. That is a Monday morning before dawn and a Saturday morning after the last traders have gone to bed. For most people in Pakistan this means the first usable trading hours of the week are not at the open at all, and anything that happened over the weekend has already been priced in by the time you sit down.

A day in PKT, session by session

The Tokyo session, 05:00 to 14:00, starts around dawn. London opens at 12:00 in northern summer and 13:00 in northern winter, in the early afternoon. New York begins at 17:00 or 18:00, and its session runs until 02:00 or 03:00 the next morning.

That puts the London and New York overlap at 17:00 to 21:00 in summer and 18:00 to 22:00 in winter, which is the evening. If your day is spent at a job or at university, the evening overlap is the one session you can reach without staying up all night, and the Tokyo session is the one you can reach before the day starts. London’s first hours, in the early afternoon, are the awkward ones for anyone with fixed daytime hours.

Planning a routine around the evening overlap (hypothetical)

Imagine a trader who finishes work at 17:00 and wants to trade the overlap without trading every night. A sensible structure is a fixed window, for example 18:00 to 20:00 in winter, with a rule that the platform is closed after it. That keeps the journal clean as well: when every trade falls in the same two hours, the question “when do I trade well?” shrinks to “which of these two hours?”, which is much easier to answer with a few dozen trades than a whole day’s worth of buckets.

The risk of the evening window is fatigue. Many traders take their weakest decisions at the end of a long day, and a journal can show whether yours slip late in the session. See decision fatigue in trading for what to look for, and how to find your best trading hours for the method.

Reading broker server time in Pakistan time

Your platform shows the broker’s clock, not Pakistan time. A broker on UTC+3 is two hours behind Karachi, so a trade closed at 20:00 server time happened at 22:00 in Pakistan. A broker on UTC+2 is three hours behind. Both are examples: open Market Watch, compare the time with UTC and write the offset down, as MT5 server time explained describes. AI Trading Journal keeps the broker clock for every trade, so a journal row matches your History tab and your broker statement.

Gold in Pakistan time
